Reconnect and Reflect: My Journey from Real Estate to Mindfulness Coach

It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself and shared the story about how and why I became a mindfulness and empowerment coach.

A couple of things about me:


🎉  What brings me joy today is that my teenagers finished finals!!! 

🧘‍♀️  I left my 18-year career in commercial real estate to start Anchor, and I’ve been in business for 6 years. 


My favorite thing about meditation is that it empowers us to see the bigger picture and remember that we have a choice in our lives... At any moment, we get to decide where we place our energy and attention. We get to be centered on what matters most to us, and we can decide to change our minds, change the way we look at things, or respond in new ways. This feels like freedom to me, and I love to share the liberating, life-changing practice of meditation with others!

The biggest obstacle to your greatness

 We all have patterns that show in our lives and color the way we perceive the world. They affect the way we see, speak, understand, hear, and feel. They color our sense of who we are, about others, and what is possible for us. They influence our actions, behaviors, and attitudes. They can keep us trapped, blaming, and in victim mode.


These patterns are hard to break free from, because they’re largely invisible, and they’re tied to our identity, so they’re like what water is to a fish. These stories we tell ourselves about who we are, and hold us back from becoming who we’re meant to be and reaching our full potential. 


They’re often subconscious, and we don’t even know we have them until someone points them out to us. If we can just see how we’re creating these patterns, we can create something different!

Maya Angelou said, “People won’t remember what you said, they won’t remember what you did, but they will remember how you made them feel”.  

 

It’s true, right? Emotions are contagious and how you make people feel depends on whether your nervous system is regulated or not. 

 

Imagine a time someone walked into a room and they were full of rage, anger, or hate. Just being in their presence might invoke anxiety, your nervous system may absorb their stress levels, your body may begin to suddenly feel tense, tight, or constricted.

 

Now recall a time you were with someone who was full of joy! They entered the room that you’re in and it felt like sunshine. They were light and airy and full of love.
