Did you know that if you put a flea in a jar and put a lid on the jar, initially the flea will jump around and hit its head on the lid of the jar for a certain period of time until it learns the boundaries of the jar?
After a while, the fleas learn the limitations of where the lid is and you can remove the lid from the jar, but the flea will continue to jump at the adjusted height, and never jump out of the jar again because it's been conditioned by its environment. When the fleas reproduce, their offspring will follow their example.
In a lot of ways humans are like fleas, we start out young, confident, and full of dreams and aspirations. Along the way, our thinking conditions us to operate and live within the limitations of our environment and we begin to adjust to the limits others have set for us as if we're fleas in a jar.

Once upon a time, there was an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years.
One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. âSuch bad luck,â they said sympathetically, âyou must be so sad.â
âWeâll see,â the farmer replied.
The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it two other wild horses.
âHow wonderful,â the neighbors exclaimed. âNot only did your horse return, but you received two more. What great fortune you have!â
âWeâll see,â answered the farmer.
The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. âNow your son cannot help you with your farming,â they said. âWhat terrible luck you have!â
âWeâll see,â replied the old farmer.
The following week, military officials came to the village to conscript young men into the army. Seeing that the sonâs leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farm...
It's essential to have effective stress relievers that can calm your mind and body.
Â
Today I'm sharing 4 simple, effective, instant stress relievers that you can do anywhere, anytime. These will provide immediate relief and lower your stress, anxiety, and overwhelm right now.
ELONGATED EXHALES:
When stressed, we are often taking only shallow breaths from the upper chest. A full deep belly breath helps to release pressure and tension.
Â
Breathing in deeply and extending your exhale a couple of seconds longer than the inhale (i.e. inhale for 5, hold for 5, exhale for 7) sends signals to your nervous system that you're in a safe space and it's okay to rest and relax.
A home is a place of harmony where you can retreat from the hectic pace of the modern world to rest and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. It is your sanctuary - your safe haven where you feel safe, relaxed, and at peace - and the energy in your home is important to your well-being.Â
As our homes are where we spend most of our time, it is important to have good energy flowing abundantly. After a time of illness, or transition, or as a complement to regular cleaning, space clearing can help us feel at peace in our environment. A cleansed and energized room feels renewed, full of light, fresh, and inviting when you enter.Â
Everything is made of energy, and that energy can easily build you up and bring you down. Like our bodies, our homes can pick up heavy, negative emotions. You know that your space has a low vibration when you feel heavy and unable to relax the second you walk in the door. Negative energy takes up space, and letting go of it paves the way for new things to come in.Â
Are you working hard for something you want, and it's just not happening for you? It's likely because your programs and subconscious mind don't support what you want, and your subconscious is holding you back from getting where you want.
The hard truth is that we've all been programmed and these programs largely reside in our subconscious mind. The bad news is that in today's society, most of the programs are negative, disempowering, and limiting. For example, "I'm alone, I can't do this, I'm going to fail, I'm not attractive enough, I'm not good enough"
Scientists believe 95% of your life comes from the subconscious point of view, meaning 95% of the time, you're being driven by your subconscious wiring, not the wiring of your conscious mind at all.Â
The Good news is YOU can rewire your subconscious pathways to better support your big dreams, visions, and goals! Once you understand what's holding you back by your subconscious wiring, then you can start to move forward into rewiring!...
Do you remember the last time you were able to completely quiet your mind?
Iâm asking because this is probably the most common myth about meditation.
People often tell me âI canât meditate because I canât stop thinking.â Youâre not failing at meditation just because you still have thoughts running through your mind!
The truth is, your mind produces thoughts just as naturally as your heart pumps the blood through your veins! When you sit down to meditate, just like your heart keeps beating, and your lungs keep breathing, your mind keeps thinking because thatâs what minds do!
Meditation is a way to retrain your mind so that you can control what it pays attention to, and so that your thoughts no longer control you.
Through daily practice, you can learn to anchor your mind in the awareness that notices your thoughts and emotions â without getting swept up in them.
It is from this space that you can:
- Turn chaos into calm, busyness into balance, and pressure into peace
- Shine prof...
Have you heard the story about the Mexican fisherman and the American investment banker?
Some sobering statistics recently came out from the CDC:
Data is clear that children develop the capacity to regulate through the process of being co-regulated by a safe, consistent, loving caregiver.
I recently listened to an excellent Rich Roll podcast and teen whisperer Lisa Damour, Ph.D. who is a Yale-educated psychotherapist with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan who specializes in education and child development. She is the author of three New York Times bestsellers: Untangled, Under Pressure, and The Emotional Lives of Teenagersâthe latter being the subject of the podcast. Here is the key takeaway:
"The best gift we can give our teenagers is to try to be a steady presence. teenagers experience their own emot...
It's finals week for my teenagers and the stress is real!
I put these signs around the house to remind them that no matter what test scores say, they are enough.
 Â
All of our issues stem from the fact that we don't feel good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, loved enough, you name it. We then criticize ourselves harshly and say hurtful critical words to ourselves.
The way to reverse these patterns is to nourish, praise, and uplift ourselves with phrases like "I am enough."
These three magical life-changing words hold more power than we might imagine!
"I am enough. I know I'm enough. I've always been enough. I will always know I am enough.
I am enough now, I was enough then, and I will always be enough.
I am enough. I have enough. I do enough.
Yes, I can have this, I am enough. Yes, I can do this, I am enough. Yes, I will, I am enough. Yes, I deserve this, I am enough.
Everywhere and anytime I am enough."
Repeat these words until you truly feel that there is nothing outsid...
