A Powerful Paradigm Shift

Dec 04, 2023

Here's an exploration of the two perspectives:

Life is Happening to Me:

External Forces: This perspective often involves seeing life events as external forces acting upon you. It might feel like circumstances, challenges, and experiences are beyond your control.

Reacting Mode: Individuals with this mindset may find themselves reacting to situations, feeling overwhelmed by external events, and perceiving life as a series of unpredictable occurrences.

Life is Happening For Me:

Empowerment: Adopting the mindset that life is happening for you suggests a belief that there is purpose and meaning in every experience, even in challenges. It's about finding opportunities for growth and learning.

Active Participation: This perspective implies that you play an active role in shaping your experiences. Challenges are viewed as opportunities to develop resilience, gain insights, and move closer to your goals.

Positive Reframing: Even in difficult circumstances, the focus is on reframing challenges into...

"We'll See"

Sep 13, 2023

Once upon a time, there was an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years.

One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically, “you must be so sad.”

“We’ll see,” the farmer replied.

The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it two other wild horses.

“How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed. “Not only did your horse return, but you received two more. What great fortune you have!”

“We’ll see,” answered the farmer.

The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. “Now your son cannot help you with your farming,” they said. “What terrible luck you have!”

1-Minute Instant Stress Relievers!

Sep 13, 2023

It's essential to have effective stress relievers that can calm your mind and body.

Today I'm sharing 4 simple, effective, instant stress relievers that you can do anywhere, anytime. These will provide immediate relief and lower your stress, anxiety, and overwhelm right now.

ELONGATED EXHALES:

When stressed, we are often taking only shallow breaths from the upper chest. A full deep belly breath helps to release pressure and tension.

Breathing in deeply and extending your exhale a couple of seconds longer than the inhale (i.e. inhale for 5, hold for 5, exhale for 7) sends signals to your nervous system that you're in a safe space and it's okay to rest and relax.

  • Take a nice long, slow, deep breath through your nose into your belly, letting your abdomen expand fully
  • Hold it for a few seconds
  • Imagine you have a wand with a bubble on it - as you breathe out, be careful not to pop the bubble
  • As you exhale, unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, and soften your belly
  • Close your eye
  • ...

The Most Common Meditation Myth

Aug 17, 2023

Do you remember the last time you were able to completely quiet your mind?

I’m asking because this is probably the most common myth about meditation.

People often tell me “I can’t meditate because I can’t stop thinking.” You’re not failing at meditation just because you still have thoughts running through your mind!

The truth is, your mind produces thoughts just as naturally as your heart pumps the blood through your veins! When you sit down to meditate, just like your heart keeps beating, and your lungs keep breathing, your mind keeps thinking because that’s what minds do!

Meditation is a way to retrain your mind so that you can control what it pays attention to, and so that your thoughts no longer control you.

Through daily practice, you can learn to anchor your mind in the awareness that notices your thoughts and emotions – without getting swept up in them.

It is from this space that you can:

- Turn chaos into calm, busyness into balance, and pressure into peace

- Shine prof...
